Lebron James may not be the only player to help deliver his hometown a championship. Now newly acquired Pacer, Jeff Teague has the opportunity to do the same.

The Indianapolis native returns home where he played ball at Pike High School after his former team the Atlanta Hawks dealt him in a 3-team deal that involved Utah and Indiana. The trades send fellow Indiana native, George Hill to Utah, and Atlanta received the number 12 pick in Thursday’s draft in which they used to draft, Taurean Prince.

Pacers superstar, Paul George finally has another all-star to play with to better the Pacers chances of returning to the eastern conference finals.

Teague is a combo guard that can create for himself and others off the dribble. He can drive and shoot and he comes from a winning culture in the Atlanta Hawks. The Pacers have been searching for an All-Star level guard  for a while now and they may have found it in Teague. He averaged 15 points and 5 assists last year and he will likely make things easier for PG13 scoring the basketball.

The best news for the Pacers is that they get Teague with one year remaining on his current deal, thus motivating him to play great basketball being that it is a contract year for him. If he plays well he will place himself in a good position to secure a very rich long-term contract which the Pacers, which they likely would be proud to give out because Indiana is not the easiest of places to get free agents to sign to.

The Pacers are off to a great start this off-season because not only did they trade for Teague but they also improved their front court by trading for the underrated, Thaddeus Young. The trade was probably well received by Young, who will finally be playing on a winning team after bad stints in Philly, Minnesota, and Brooklyn. He and Myles Turner has the potential to be a very scary tandem down low.

Teague made it clear he was ready to part ways with Atlanta by recently erasing all Hawks related things from his social media accounts. Sometimes a fresh start is best, just ask Derrick Rose.

Do you think this is a good trade? Does the acquisition of Jeff Teague make the Pacers more of a contender in the East?
